English Proficiency exams

Since most LAU courses are conducted in English, you must also demonstrate proficiency in English in one of the following ways:

Those who choose to sit for the TOEFL should take the international test. The institutional TOEFL is not accepted at LAU.

Based on your test results, you may be required to take, or may be exempted from, certain courses at LAU. The chart below explains the basic rules:

You will have to register for ENG002 (Intensive English II). Your next course would be ENG003 (Intensive English III). Students in the Intensive English Program are not allowed to start with their major courses.

Redesigned SAT I Writing 21-22
ACT Writing 14-16

You will have to register for ENG009 Remedial English, a non-credit course (three hours of instruction weekly, but no credits are counted)

 You are exempt from ENG009 Remedial English.
