Entrance exams
Prospective students are required to take the SAT I and demonstrate English proficiency to apply to LAU.
SATs
- All prospective undergraduates must submit their SAT I scores to LAU.
- Lebanese students applying to the Freshman Arts and Freshman Science applicants must also submit SAT II scores. (Please see Admission requirements for more information.)
- You can register for the SAT tests by visiting sat.collegeboard.com/register/how-to-register. The university’s code for both the SAT and the TOEFL is 2595.
- If you need help studying for the SAT, contact the Continuing Education Program, which offers SAT prep courses.
- It’s recommended to sign up for the SAT I as soon as possible. For entry in fall 2011, the last session will be June 2011.
English Proficiency
Since most LAU courses are conducted in English, you must also demonstrate proficiency in English in one of the following ways:
- Pass LAU’s English Entrance Exam with a score of at least 500 points. Check out the current EEE schedule.
- Obtain at least 80 points on the internet-based TOEFL.
- Obtain at least 380 points on the SAT’s Writing Section.
Those who choose to sit for the TOEFL should take the international test. The institutional TOEFL is not accepted at LAU.
Based on your test results, you may be required to take, or may be exempted from, certain courses at LAU. The chart below explains the basic rules:
